LVOpera selects Olivia Prendergast as the first recipient of the Young Artist Performance Program Award
In the winter of 2023, LVOpera selected Olivia Prendergast as the recipient of the first Young Artist Performance Program award. Following that announcement, for two weeks in late January and early February of 2024, Ms. Prendergast played the role of Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute to the delight of nearly 10,000 students at twenty Tri-Valley elementary schools.
Olivia Prendergast, soprano, obtained a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, and Master of Music degree from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. Her performance repertoire spans the centuries from new works to 20th century Benjamin Britten’s Turn of the Screw and Aaron Copland’s The Tender Land, to late 19th century Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, and yet earlier to include Mozart and Handel. Last summer Ms. Prendergast participated SF Opera’s Merola Opera Program for young artists with full scholarship and stipend with opera studies, coaching, and performances.
Congratulations Olivia!
