Students from the Tracy Montessori School attend ELIXIR OF LOVE, Nov. 2022

Livermore Valley Opera’s Education and Community Engagement Program provides a deeper dive into the performing arts by serving the Tri- Valley community with live opera performances beyond the stage, all free of charge.

Education Engagement extends to all levels of the education system and reaches students attending schools located throughout the Tri Valley region.

Elementary Schools:

Once a year, during a two-week period, fom January 26 – February 6, 2026 LVOpera creates a reduced  version of a 45-minute opera, and holds performances for over 10,000 elementary school students at twenty Tri-Valley schools. These in-school performances, presented by four professional artists along with a piano accompanist, also invite student participation and are all held free of charge. The opera to be performed for the 2025–2026 school year is Rossini’s enchanting The Barber of Seville.

Master Classes – Middle and High Schools:

Twice a year, a LVOpera artist conducts a 45-minute Master Class for middle and high school chorus students. During these sessions, students benefit from receiving professional coaching as well as honing their technical and performance skills.

Master Classes – Community Colleges:

Twice a year, a LVOpera artist conducts a 45-minute Master Class for a group of students of a community college music department. During these sessions, held free of charge, music students gain insight into the life of a performing artist and receive professional coaching to refine their performance skills.

Full Dress Rehearsal Performances:

Spring 2026, LVOpera invites all Tri-Valley students to attend a full dress rehearsal opera performance on Thursday, February 26.2026 at 7:30PM at the Bankhead Theater, free of charge to students – prior registration required.

Community Engagement makes live opera performances accessible to adults of all ages, including seniors in residential living communities and families attending performances at local libraries, all held free of charge.

Senior Community Performances: Twice a year, LVOpera brings a 60-minute performance of opera arias  performed by professional opera singers and a piano accompanist to senior communities in Pleasanton and Livermore, all held free of charge

Note: For full opera performances, LVOpera offers a special ticket price of $25 for students ages 20 and younger and $45 for adults ages 21 to 40.
