The LVO Chorus auditions for Don Pasquale will be held on June 11, from 2-6pm at Las Positas College, located at 3000 Campus Hill Dr, Livermore. Specifically, auditions will be heard in the choir room of the Barbara F. Mertes Center for the Arts (Building 4000), which is adjacent to parking Lot A (campus map). It is easiest for you to park in Lot A. You will not need to purchase a parking permit. There will be signs and/or people directing you where to go in the building, and a place for you to check in and receive an audition form that you will fill out prior to your audition. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time.
LVO’s production of Don Pasquale is set in the in the Wild West of the 1880’s. Originally directed by David Gately, this highly successful production has been seen at the San Diego Opera, AZ Opera and Utah Opera, to name a few.
LVO will need 14 singers: 6 women and 8 men. Although the actual chorus singing is only one scene in Pasquale, in this production the chorus acts as cowboys, mariachi players, “ladies of the night,” and the maids/butlers in Pasquale’s hotel. It is an extremely fun production, and we need people who not only sing, but who can move easily/frequently, and act as well.
There is a stipend of $150 for each singer in the chorus.
Musical preparation will be under the leadership of LVO’s Chorusmaster, Bruce Olstad.
The chorus rehearsal schedule is yet to be determined, but music rehearsals will likely be mid-August to early September. We may hold an initial chorus music read-through earlier in the summer. The sitzprobe will be 9/24, 7-10pm at the Bothwell Arts Center. Tech week (9/25 – 9/28), we will have rehearsals every evening at the Bankhead Theater.
Performances are: 9/30; 10/1 (mat.); 10/7; and 10/8 (mat.).
If you are interested in scheduling an audition time, please contact John Mark Carter, LVO’s chorus manager: email@example.com. Singers are asked to audition with one aria or art song, preferably in Italian. If you do not have such a piece in your repertoire, other styles/languages may be heard at the discretion of the Chorusmaster. In addition, please bring a double-sided copy of your selection, in a 3-ring binder, for the pianist.
