"Die Fledermaus" (The Bat) is a delightful operetta by Johann Strauss, full of lively music and a witty, humorous plot with well-defined characters.  Eisenstein prepares to bid his wife, Rosalinda, farewell. Through the incompetence of his lawyer he has been sentenced to spend eight days in the town jail. Although the situation is seemingly tragic, Eisenstein, his wife, and their ambitious maid, Adele, have devised their individual ways to get the most out of the situation. The evening continues with Prince Orlovsky giving a magnificent ball.  New friends and repaired relationships occur with twists and turns and plenty of preposterous, funny situations.  And how does this end? With all the complications solved, everybody joins in singing a toast in praise of champagne!

Synopsis

The Impressario by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

A theater manager tries to recruit an operatic company for his playhouse. He encounters difficulties with two jealous prima donnas, as each is determined that she shall be the only singer he engages and scorns the accomplishments of the other. At last, M. Vogelgesang manages to placate the two and persuades them to sign contracts.

The Stronger by Hugo Weisgall

Estelle is bitter of Lisa’s friendship with Harold, Estelle’s husband. Estelle accuses Lisa of trying to take Harold from her and in an effort to determine who is “the stronger” of the two, Estelle expresses her hysterical suspicions, portraying Lisa as a monster of hatred and guile. Having unburdened herself of thoughts that have afflicted her for some time, Estelle, convinced she is “the stronger,” regains composure and bids Lisa a “Merry Christmas” as she exits.
