School Outreach Program
Livermore Valley Opera continues visiting schools and keep exposing the young generation to the art of Opera! This season we are rolling out our newest assembly program featuring an interactive opera show for students, a fully staged and translated into English, Pergolesi's comic opera The Housekeeper becomes the Wife (La Serva Padrona). In addition, we invite master teachers and principal artists from our main stage productions to work with high school and college choruses and young singers. We are proud to say that by the end of the 2017-2018 season we’ll be visiting in 24 different schools and colleges, bringing the art of opera to 10,000 students!
Our continued outreach goal is to enrich the lives of as many students as we can each year. By generating an awareness of opera and the cultural arts, we can have an impact on these young people’s lives that is of value to both Livermore Valley Opera and our society at large. Finally, we invite all students and teachers to experience a live opera by attending our dress rehearsal of Un Ballo in Maschera on March 8, free admission.
If you are interested in sponsoring or contributing to the vital resources that make our school programs possible, please contact our Outreach Director, Revital Shmerling.
In Livermore Valley Opera, our belief is that opera should be introduced and accessible to everyone. In an effort to foster and fulfill our mission to encourage a wider appreciation of opera in the Tri-Valley, Livermore Valley Opera offers an array of outreach programs, and constantly seeks to develop a relationship with our community by expanding our activity. Our OperaLIVE! the program presents our talented and personable principals to the community, where they perform opera arias and duets from Livermore Valley Opera’s productions along with selections from other operas and genres, including musical theater.
In 2017-2018 season, principals from the Don Pasquale and Un Ballo in Maschera productions present free concerts in Dublin and Pleasanton libraries.
We are excited to launch our first time ever opera sing along ‘Wine, Passion, Opera!’, an event designated to our community choirs’ singers and opera fans. Take a look at the brochure (link). Whether you are a first-time operagoer or a life-long opera fan, LVO encourages you to attend our community outreach free events!
